Blaine-Birch Bay Park and Recreation District 2 is excited to partner with Birch Bay Village Golf Club to offer another Junior Golf Camp!
"Our teaching philosophy is to make golf FUN! Lessons start on the green with putting, the easiest stroke, and work up to full swing with irons, fairway woods, and driver. This allows students to build their swing while learning the fundamentals of the golf swing, drills, and how to practice, which encourages self-improvement.
Our program is best suited for juniors, ages 8 to 16. Equipment will be provided, however, those who have clubs are encouraged to bring them. The BBV practice area includes a large practice putting green, chipping/pitching green with a bunker and target flags for short game practice (chipping and pitching), as well as two hitting cages for full-swing practice.
Ernie Hutchins and Zane Rector are the instructors and volunteer assistants help with the practice stations, games, and on-course play.
During the on-course portion of each class, topics such as golf etiquette, course management, the history of golf, and the rules of golf are covered. By the end of the program, students will be familiar with:
· The difference in golf clubs
· Types of shots
· Setup for shots
· Playing on a golf course
· How to play with other golfers
· Practice plans to improve their new skills
Students are not required to attend all sessions or days but are
encouraged to come as often as they can. Each student must complete a contact form with parents or guardians’ phone numbers.
Each session will have a maximum of 25 students.
Lessons include introduction to pre-shot routine, clubface contact, ball flight laws, tempo, all leading to confidence while playing, especially when playing in team events.
