Join us for an exciting adventure at Birch Bay State Park! The Friends of Birch Bay State Park and Blaine-Birch Bay Park and Recreation District 2 are hosting a special program for families and kids, but everyone is welcome to explore the local intertidal zone with Beach Naturalists. Discover the wonders of tidepool exploration and learn all about clamming in our beautiful park.
If you're joining us for Clamming 101, don't forget to bring your shellfish license, water shoes, boots, shovel, trowel, and a bucket. Please note that in case of a red tide, the June and later dates may turn into tide pool exploration sessions, but our experts will still be available to answer your clamming questions.
Don't miss out on this educational and fun-filled experience at Birch Bay State Park! Learn to:
Identify organisms using ID guides.
Identify adaptations and body parts that help organisms to survive the constantly changing environment they live in.
Relate organisms to the food web.
Have fun finding cool creatures on the beach and having someone around that can help identify them!
