Cloud Bird: A Story Born from the Sky – Family Event
Join us for a special family event featuring local author Julia Y. Kim, creator of the gentle and inspiring children’s book Cloud Bird: The First Flight.Set against the familiar skies of Semiahmoo and the surrounding Blaine area, "The story was inspired by a real cloud I saw at what I now call the Cloud Bird Spot, located near Drayton Harbor Road." This poetic picture book invites readers to explore courage, imagination, and the beauty of becoming. Through soft watercolor illustrations and lyrical storytelling, Cloud Bird follows a small cloud that dreams of flying—eventually transforming into a bird and beginning a journey of self-discovery. Meaningful for all ages, this story encourages reflection, wonder, and quiet confidence.

About the AuthorJulia Y. Kim is a local author whose connection to the Birch Bay landscape inspired the creation of Cloud Bird. She is currently working on a second book in the series and is passionate about creating meaningful, imaginative experiences that families can carry into everyday life.We hope to see you there!
