8:30 AM - 12:30 PM    Mini-singles Pickleball Tournament - Mini-singles Pickleball Tournament Intermediate/Advanced (females)
Did you know a new tournament format was introduced in 2023 across the United States? It’s called Mini-Singles (or Skinny Singles).  When you play a game of mini-singles, you use just one-half of the court. A game of mini-singles is a great way to improve ball control, accuracy, strategy, and ability to pre-plan shots. It’s also a fun way to compete against other players and test your skills!  Blaine - Birch Bay Park and Recreation District 2 is hosting the 2nd Annual Mini-Singles Tournament on May 18 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Space is limited, so sign up today using the correct link below.  Here's information about the tournament format: Certified Teaching Pro Mark Livingston (Coach Mark) will serve as Tournament Director. He’s planning to host three brackets of competition: Women's Intermediate/Advanced Skill Level (8 players maximum) Men's Intermediate/Advanced Skill Level (8 players maximum) Beginners and Novice Skill Level (8 women or men players maximum) Players within their brackets will compete in a round-robin format. All mini-single games will be played to 11 points, win by two. The top two finishers in each bracket will compete for medals. If Mini-Singles is new to you, watch the YouTube video (below) from one of the top women players and coaches in the game, Simone Jardim. Simone discusses the format and shows how to position yourself on the court given the game score.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TV5C7gbJFnI Coach Mark will review this information again on May 18, plus have players available to help with scoring and movement.
